Pushing Parents to Learn Blogging

As more and more households are getting entangled in the World Wide Web, the more numbers of kids bloggers are emerging. It would be a foolish thought to try to restrict kids from entering the cyber world, especially when almost nothing can match the vast source of information available on the Internet.

Kids blogging without parent knowledge

The urge of the kids bloggers to catch up on the recent trend of expressing themselves and connecting to each other is also responsible for this mushrooming of kids bloggers sites. On an average, one third of district and public school teenagers have been found to be kids bloggers taking the toll at a whopping 6 million, with only 5% of their parents being aware of this.

Finding the right amount of supervision

It is often a bone of contention between the teenagers and their parents how much parental supervision is allowed. Usually, kids bloggers don’t want their parents to peek at their computer screen and this sometimes worsens the situation to a point of no return. Blogging is surely a way to augment the creative spur inside the budding minds and the teenagers should be encouraged to blog, but there has to be a limit!

Be aware of unsuitable content

Some parents have found their teenage children posting content on their blogs that is objectionable enough to incite supervision. Though shocking, the content ranges from racial hatred, perverse hobbies, violent intentions, provocative conversations and even pornography.

While blogging usually reflect the minds of the teenagers with comparatively lesser harm, some kids bloggers post their own images along with their original names, addresses, school names and contact numbers. Often they are below the age of 10 and tend to seek attention in whatever manner. Especially, girls have the tendency to post seductive photos to reach out to the opposite sex. The kids unaware of the outcomes of their activities can easily be preyed upon by pedophiles and online crooks.

Parental guidance is therefore, mandatory for which parents also have to learn the ABC’s of blogging.
