Design a Blog for KidsDesign a blog for kids – is it easy?

Blogs are great fun, but if your child wants one, you may have to get involved in the process that allows you to design a blog for kids.

This is not incredibly difficult, and all you have to really focus on is making sure that the site has features that any kid would like to see.

If you have spent any time as a parent or teacher, you will know that children have short attention spans, and a burning desire to be entertained as well as educated.

You have to deal with all of this when you are making a move towards trying to design a blog for kids.

1. Name the Blog

The first thing you should really try and do is make sure that you have put together a nice name for the blog. Do not try and do anything here that is in any way complicated or not child-friendly. Children do not care how clever you can be with words, just keep it simple and make sure that any child within thirty feet of you finds it funny or different enough to be memorable.

2. Choose a Platform

Take a good look at all the blogging software out there to  ensure that you choose a platform that allows you to set very strong passwords. If you are going to encourage kids to get involved, they will need absolute security when sharing their views or expressing themselves. This only happens when you design a blog that has secure passwords as standard, and a healthy dose of security around the site itself. If you are creating a blog on a platform like Blogger, they have a lot of security and a really good customer service line, which should be able to help with any concerns you have in this area.

3. Create Colorful Elements

Make sure that all of the pages have plenty of color attached to them. There was a trend a few months ago to keep everything white and minimalist. This is fine if you are selling something, but not if you are trying to keep a kid readership entertained.

When you design your blog make it fun, exciting, and include lots of other colorful elements like video and sound. This way you will make sure that children visit your site, and that your child or student enjoys using it to express himself or herself and get to know others. Basically, keep it fun, and keep it dynamic.
