A Blog also known as weblog is an online-journal used to maintain posting of observations, descriptions of events, or other material like graphics or video. It acts like an online diary. It can be used by business firms to promote their business as well as individuals for personal blogging.

Easy Steps for Kids to Set Up a Blog

There are different tools to setup your blog.  Most of them are free and some are paid.   A few basic steps how kids can set up their own blog.

1.    Decide the theme or subject area.   First decide why you need a blog? On what topics do you wish to write?  Always try to look for some popular topics so that your blog can popularize well.

2.    Choose a meaningful name.  Naming is very important, as the name of the blog with proper keywords give your blog good traffic.  It is better to choose according to the subject of the blog.  It should be easy to remember and does not contain special characters.

3.    Decide your audience.   It is very important to first analyze your audience.  This can be answered by asking a few questions.  Are you creating your blog to keep in touch with your friends and family?  Do you want to share information with people of same profession?  Is it an extension of your business?  When you answer these questions you get to know your audience.

4.    Choose a suitable blog host.   There are numerous blog hosts available on the Internet, each having their own specific quality.  To choose your host you must be aware of the technical expertise of the host.  It should also fit your budget, although there are many available free of cost, but with few limitations.  There are few like blogger, wordpress, typepad, Vox.

5.    Create a blog.
(a)    Create an account to setup a blog.  Create a blog account with the help of your email address.
(b)    Choose a suitable template.  There are various templates available with the host you choose as per your subject.  There are also many templates available designed by individuals or companies to suit your needs.   It mainly contains a header, a side bar and space for posting.
(c)    Start posting.  Once you have chosen your template, you can write individual entries called posts for your blog.  Generally there can be many numbers of posts in a blog, unless the host has limited the space.  It can contain both text and graphics.
