blogging writing

When you are a teacher you will find that students prefer to write in blogs rather written work in papers or note books. Students love to debate the merits of a topic written in blogs and wait to see how others respond to it.

Blogging is a medium which improves along with writing skills. It gives expression of one self an extra edge. It’s not that every one is born with great writing skills. We can say only a few in millions, but all other become writers only through practice. And blogging is a good way to practice writing skills.

Writing skill does not develop in one day. For example you can take up any sport. It improves with success in every level. Similarly for writing one has to pass various levels. Writing daily in one’s blog is like expressing oneself on a fresh canvas. Words are like lines and when joined together for beautiful sentences like an enchanting image on canvas.

One should always be proud of what he/she has written in a blog post. It’s just matter of practice, and your skill will definitely improve day by day. Blogging in present scenario is being incorporated as a part of literacy, which includes reading, comprehension and writing. Though it is not the only medium but, due to its popularity and easiness it has become one that student enjoy the most and hence take lot of interest.

There are types of writing that can be included as part of students writing skills like:

  • Students can provide their reactions to given text by their writing.
  • They can compare and contrast two separate texts.
  • They indulge in comprehension activities like determining, summarizing subject matter or main idea of a text.
  • It can include creative writing like short story and poetry.

It now comes as a part and parcel for teachers to make their students learn how to write appropriately, and correctly online, so that they don’t mess up their writing abilities or go for some fake communication tools on Internet. As a teacher you have to teach students what writing is all about: communicating, convincing, updating, expressing and not just getting a grade.

One can write about almost anything that you want in their blog which could include topics like sports, movies, entertainment or something funny too.  Students can do their homework more correctly. What a student mainly needs is motivation to do it. If you can motivate your student to do it, think that half the battle is won, improvement in writing skill will surely follow.
